Add this to the list of things that make you go, "duh!" A new study suggests that a bad hair day can be the reason you're acting like such a bitch. 44% of women admit that bad hair plays a big role in their mood for the day, with 26% admitting they’ve cried after getting a hair cut, and a third saying they've regretted a change in style. But since some poor schlub sat in a lab and had to spend hours computing the oh so obvious data, we figured we'd spend a few minutes talking to a stylist to find out how you can at least combat the inevitable by aiming for a good hair day when you sense tress trouble's on the horizon. As Evelyn Calderon-Miller, freelance stylist of Butterfly Studio in NYC, tells us, “don’t stress, take action."
IF YOU HAVE:
Frizzy or thick and out of control hair put it back. Start by misting your hair with a water bottle and adding a good conditioner or leave in conditioner we love Ojon Leave-In Glossing Cream pull it thru your frizzy locks, this will help your hair to get some moisture back and have a smoother appearance before you start to pin back. By twisting section lightly around the hairline pulling back and pining to middle of the head for a half up half down style, add a nice barrette to cover the pins, or you can twist sections all around the head to create a nice tamed bun.
Limp or flat hair
Give it easy body. Get some instant volume by flipping your hair upside down and spraying it with a volumizer like Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray or powder such as Bumble and bumble's hair powder which comes in different colors! If its oily give it a shot of hot air with the blow dryer to create more body and texture. Then tease the crown area (no you won't look like Snooki), after the tease pull the sides and back into a high pony tail, don't comb out the tease so it can have a little body and height.
If you don't like height then gel your hair back with fingers to create some texture and to determine where you're going to place the pony tail. Once you decide the placement whether it's a low pony, high pony, or side pony, add a loose braid to the pony then wrap your ponytail around with some bobby pins--creating a nice clean texture bun.
If it’s long and lackluster:
Put it away. Accept that it's not going to go your way that morning, pull it back, and hold hair in place with a firm spray like Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Super Spray and style hair in either in a clean bun or a simple half up half down style in a clip. Concentrate on exposing your face by spending more time on your standout features like your eyes, cheek bones, lips, etc. and no one will be the wiser.
Short and well, shitty:
Play it up. Growing it out or haven't had time to get it cut? Start creating a nice shape by twisting pieces away using a wax product like Sumotech by Bumble and Bumble from your face, and using small bobby pins start pinning to create a nice short fun style!

Guys have bad hair days too. And while we're not so into vampires, don't love it when his skin is too white, and to be honest, his relationship with that bore, Kristen Stewart, puts us off , there is still something very, yummy, about Robert Pattinson, and we think it's that damn sexy unkempt hair.
Blow, the New York Blow Dry Bar’s Derrick Keith weighs in on getting this “just rolled out of bed” style. After shampooing strands with a clarifying shampoo, comb through with your fingers and let hair air dry. Then work through a light pomade like Blow's Mane Tame to create structure and hold that looks sexy yet natural. |
